Imam who lectures on non-violence and advises the German government on interfaith issues has been arrested in Germany for beating up his wife. She was allegedly assaulted so badly that she suffered a broken nose and shoulder and numerous cuts and bruises. Sheikh Abu Adam, 40, who bears a resemblance to Osama bin Laden, is now on remand in Munich while his wife, 31, is being guarded by police. Media reports say the woman, who has borne one of his ten children, wanted to live a more “western” lifestyle, earning her the physical response from her husband. The police say they received a distress-call from a lawyer called by the victim. It is alleged he shouted a verse from the Koran at her as he beat her; «Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.»
For en uke siden holdt denne imamen et foredrag på det katolske universitetet i Munchen, med tittelen “Et islam som distanserer seg fra vold”. På en nylig konferanse om islam i Europa møtte imamen Tysklands justisminister. Han har også oppfordret muslimer til å ta avstand fra radikal islam.
Media reports said the imam refused at first to let them in but they forced their way past him because they feared the woman‘s life was in danger. Sheikh Adam is the Egyptian Imam of the Darul Quran Mosque in Munich. He is facing charges of causing grievous bodily harm and could face a jail term if convicted. A week ago the Imam held a lecture at the city‘s Catholic University a lecture themed on; ‘An Islam Which Distances Itself From Violence.‘ He also spoke at a recent conference called `Meeting Islam in Europe« and met German justice Sabine Leutheusser Schnarrenberger there. Adam was assigned bodyguards on the outside because of his calls for Muslims to reject radical Islam. He is also being guarded while on remand from racist fellow prisoners.
