Det mest populære navnet i Oslo er Mohammad
29.01.08: SSBs navnestatistikk for 2007 viser at Mohammad er det mest brukte guttenavnet blant nyfødte guttebarn i Oslo. Dette er et klart bilde på den store veksten i den ikke-vestlige innvandrerbefolkningen i Oslo. På landsbasis er Mathias og Sara de mest populære fornavnene.

Statistikk er ikke alltid er like lett å tolke, og det blir ikke lettere når Statistisk sentralbyrå (SSB) har et ønske om å tone ned ett eller annet funn. Så synes det å være med årets navnestatistikk.

For her fremkommer det at navnet Mohammad, i alle dens skrivevarianter, er det mest brukte guttenavnet i Oslo. Men navnet figurer knapt på SSBs tabeller, og i SSB presentasjoner er dette et funn som er alt annet enn enkelt å få øye på. Det påpekes heller at ”På landsbasis kommer Mohammad likevel ikke lengre opp enn en 53. plass”.
